Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships

The Global Development Institute (GDI) is pleased to announce the availability of five scholarships for distance learning, funded by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (CSC).

These are for applicants from developing Commonwealth countries, covering all tuition fee costs for the MSc in Management and Information Systems (Distance Learning), commencing in January 2018. 

Eligibility for the scholarships is as follows:

  1. Applicants must meet the entry requirements for the MSc M&IS (DL) including a first degree of 2.1 standard or above and English language qualification.
  2. Applicants must hold an unconditional offer for the MSc M&IS (DL) programme.
  3. Applicants must also meet the CSC entry requirements that they are a citizen of developing Commonwealth country (see list below), refugee, or British protected person; and a permanent resident in a developing Commonwealth country for the duration of the MSc programme.

Applicants must apply for both the MSc M&IS (DL) programme and (separately) for the CSC scholarship:

The closing date for CSC scholarship application is 12 May 2017.  In order to ensure that the necessary MSc M&IS (DL) offer has been received, applicants are advised to apply as early as possible, and not later than 14 April 2017.

GDI Development Leadership Scholarships

The Global Development Institute (GDI) is pleased to announce the availability of nine scholarships for overseas applicants, providing full tuition fee waivers for on-campus Masters programmes commencing in September 2017.

Eligibility for the scholarships is as follows:

  1. Applicants must already hold an unconditional offer for an eligible Masters programme (please see box below for relevant Masters programmes for each scholarship).
  2. Applicants must be a national of and resident in a DAC-listed least developed, other low-income or lower-middle income country. The full list of eligible countries can be found below.
  3. Applicants for international scholarships must not have previously studied in an OECD country.
  4. Applicants must hold a First Class Honours bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS (or similar exam), with 6.5 in writing and no other subsections below 6.0.

How to apply

  • Applicants should email a 500-word statement detailing how they will apply their learning to develop a credible career track into development leadership.
  • Please send statement to the relevant email address below by clicking on the scholarship name. Please ensure you include your ID number and name of scholarship you are applying for in the subject line.

The closing date for applications for September 2017 will be 26 May 2017, but earlier application is advisable.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application within four weeks of the deadline.

GDI Development Leadership Scholarships for US and Canadian Nationals

The Global Development Institute (GDI) is pleased to announce the availability of two scholarships for United States and Canadian nationals, providing full tuition fee waivers for on-campus Masters programmes commencing in September 2017.

Eligibility for the scholarships is as follows:

  1. Applicants must already hold an unconditional offer for a campus-based GDI Masters course. A full list of GDI Masters courses can be found on our course page but please note that distance learning courses are excluded from these scholarships.
  2. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours (or GPA of 3.5/4 or above) or equivalent.

How to apply

  • Applicants should email a 500-word statement detailing how they will apply their learning to develop a credible career track into development leadership.

The closing date for applications for September 2017 will be 26 May 2017, but earlier application is advisable.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by the end of June 2017.

GDI Scholarships UK/EU

The Global Development Institute is pleased to announce the availability of five scholarships for UK/EU applicants, providing full tuition fee waivers for on-campus Masters programmes commencing in September 2017.

Eligibility for the scholarships is as follows:

  1. Applicants must already hold an unconditional offer for an eligible Masters programme (please check the box below for information on scholarships available for your Master’s programme).
  2. Applicants must hold a First Class honours first degree or equivalent, and an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS (or similar exam), with 6.5 in writing and no other subsections below 6.0 (except applicants from the UK and Ireland).

How to apply

  • Applicants should email a 500-word statement detailing how they will apply their learning to develop a credible career track into development leadership.
  • Please send your statement to the relevant email address below by clicking on the scholarship name. Please ensure you include your ID number and name of scholarship you are applying for in the subject line.

The closing date for applications for September 2017 will be 30 June 2017, but earlier application is advisable.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application within a month of the deadline.
