All PhD researchers in GDI are members of the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Doctoral College. The Doctoral College aspires to be a world-class community of postgraduate researchers contributing to socially just global development through the research of its members and their progression into leadership roles in public, private and civic institutions.
The results of the most recent Research Excellence Framework ranked GDI first for impact in Development Studies in the UK, with many of our researchers deemed to be 'world leading'.
PhD researchers make an essential contribution to the vibrant research environment of the Global Development Institute. Our research is centred around four key themes:
